Looking for the perfect spooky season watch? Join us for a screening and deep-dive discussion of 2019’s La Llorona (the brilliant Guatemalan masterpiece, not the Conjuring spin-off!).

Yes, it’s a legendary ghost story. But here’s the twist: the ghost is actually the least scary thing on the screen.

We love using classic monster stories to explore real life, and this film is a masterclass in exactly that. It brilliantly uses the folklore of the Weeping Woman to confront the very real, human horrors of history, systemic injustice, and what it means to truly be haunted by the past.

Come for the eerie, gothic atmosphere; stay for a warm, engaging conversation about what our monsters reveal about us. Expect great company, thoughtful discussion, and plenty of snacks. See you there!
